Scheduling, Campaigns, and How do we want to play?
Derasign suggested that we make a Shared Calendar so that we can figure out scheduling.
A couple ideas on the table also with regards to scheduling:
- Occasional Sunday Afternoons, but some people will usually have to work
- Weekday Afternoons whether it be face to face or online. These would be restricted with a timer to ensure that we stop in time so we can all get to work.
- One idea could be to for example have one campaign every two weeks on Tuesdays and have a second parallel campaign every two weeks on Thursdays but staggered.
- Week 1 – Tuesday Campaign 1
- Week 2 – Thursday Campaign 2
- Week 3 – Tuesday Campaign 1
- Week 4 – Thursday Campaign 2
- Week 5 – Tuesday Campaign 3
- Week 6 – Thursday Campaign 4
- Week 7 – Tuesday Campaign 3
- Week 8 – Thursday Campaign 4
- Then time permitting people can take part in 1 or both of the simultaneous campaigns but one could still be in a single campaign while only need an afternoon every 2nd week.
- I don’t know if this would work and might be a heavy DM load but might be interesting.
- Another idea suggested is that we can do a big session around New Year’s since work is closed so we’ll all have some time off.
- We’ve found that face to face is by far the most ideal but online if we all have webcams and head phones can also work so that we can hear enough well enough plus see a shared map camera or map tool.
- Finally, the main goal is to make an entertainment activity for us that involves social interaction (and a bit of theatre and characters doing cool stuff). My original ideas was to have everything handled digitally but actually a lot of things are already simplified down enough that most heavy “calculations” (that I want to avoid you all having to do) can be mostly pre-done. We have an online digital system for things but the Google Sheets spreadsheets can already handle most of the calculations that don’t need DM interaction (the rest are better to handle live within the game mechanics that already let your character try almost anything).
That, and people enjoy rolling dice.
The idea was so that we could all sit around a table face to face with our smartphones out to control our characters, but it has evolved towards the more traditional table-top.
Anyways, let me know in the line chat what you all think, any ideas you have, etc.
