The sun peaks over the horizon from the wilderness to the East. A sentry looks out from atop a 60ft stone wall as the sun begins to rise a little further. Below him is a small village with villagers just starting to run around preparing for the morning market. Little did they know that everything was about to change…
The sunlight begins to glisten off the Looking Glass, a giant shiny structure to the east and the sentry gets lost in thought. *thud* the sentry hits the floor. When he gets a hold of his surroundings, he finds the ground is shaking. *caw caw caw* flocks of birds swarm through the air trying to get away. A giant dust cloud fills the air to the south taking several minutes to dissipate. When the dust finally settles, it reveals a massive 500 meter wide hole in the ground a short 20 minutes walk south of the village.
In the investigation that ensued, it was determined that the hole was magical in origin but whether it was created naturally or purposefully remained unknown. Eventually, an expedition force was sent Down the Rabbit Hole. The fall through the Rabbit Hole was a dangerous one if you expected to be able to use Feather Fall however, after a 30-minute descent, the expedition “landed” to find themselves in the middle of a 500m wide circle of dirt matching the Rabbit Hole but in the middle of a large plains. Beyond the tall grass plains there are forests and mountains in the distance. Not only was it “Down the Rabbit Hole” but it seemed to have connected them to some completely other world that did not seem all that different to our own at least from cursory investigations. The expedition team setup an encoded Teleportation Gate just outside the dirt circle to better facilitate transit.
Word has been sent out throughout many lands for heroes to step fourth and join the new expedition through the Rabbit Hole. Our Team has answered that call. Each member has set upon this journey for their own individual reasons so we’ll see what fate awaits them — Prestige, Coin, or possibly Doom.
Adventurers that have signed up for this expedition start out with the rank of T for trainee. During this “unpaid internship” the new members will take part in various routine missions such as deliveries, patrols, and handling other minor tasks that the Militia otherwise have the man power to take on. Their performance will be observed by a temporary team captain who will ultimately decide whether you can continue your journey or get sent packing home.
You and your associates have teamed to together as have other groups as to not be randomly assigned a team. You will need to work together to take on whatever challenge you face, move up the ranks, and ultimately towards your individual goals without losing sight of the fact that you are a member of a team now.
